The initial aim while starting this restoration project was to preserve the architectural heritage of a family and building which unusually predates the colonial era and most of which has been not only lost but forgotten as a part of the history of West Bengal. However, we soon realized the potential to turn this into the most remarkable heritage property in the state and the first restoration project of its kind. We not only wanted to recreate the aesthetic sense of the original architects but also the beauty and romance of this remarkable era. In addition to the restoration of the building, we want to give the discerning traveler from around India, from overseas as well as local Calcuttans, a truly unique experience and chance to explore, as closely as possible, the tapestry of cultural experiences that we offer, the glory and magnificence of the extraordinary lifestyle that the Zamindars of Bengal would have enjoyed.
